The beautiful kingdom is this year celebrating 50 years of existence as
well as the birthday of His Majesty King Mswati III.
One of the major events to mark the milestone was a Double Golden
Jubilee event staged on April 19,2018.
The historic event was celebrated at the centre of the country called
Manzini at its Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre stadium which was
filled to capacity.
Adding to the milestone was the announcement by His Majesty King
Mswati III that the country previously known as Swaziland would now be
known as Eswatini.
He described the change as reverting back to the country’s original name
before colonization by the British. The country gained independence in
1968.
The 50/50 celebrations were commemorated in all four regions of the
country with thousands of people cascading to stadiums to witness the
historic event on giant screens through live feeds while others attended
the main event in Manzini.
Among the guests was President of Republic of China (Taiwan) President
Tsai Ing-wen who delivered a speech at the stadium.
The event was marked by festivities, music and dance.
